Centre for Eye Research Australia

  • Clinical Trial Site

The Clinical Trials Research Centre at CERA is Melbourne-based and is located within a large tertiary referral centre, The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH). Our trials team of over 40 trial ophthalmologists, orthoptists and scientists have expertise in diseases including: age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, uveitis, diabetic eye disease, corneal eye disease, retinal disease and bionic vision research. We have been involved in 60 Investigator-Initiated and pharmaceutical or biotech sponsored studies.

Our staff can manage all aspects of eye clinical trials (phase I-IV) from design to publication, according to your needs. We are experienced in all associated activities including study feasibilities, project management, monitoring, medical writing, biostatistics and safety management.

We can provide coordination of an Eye Trials Research Network to expand access to private ophthalmology sites who may benefit from our training, certification and oversight.

We can also provide tailored eye examinations/vision assessments to assess potential adverse events, e.g. oncology drug-development. We are currently collaborating with the Austin Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital on their clinical trials.

Our preferred partner is Neuroscience Trials Australia (NTA) and in collaboration with NTA, CERA can provide a full service to support your clinical trial from regulatory advice to publication.
