Western Health

  • Clinical Trial Site

Western Health services a large and diverse population with the greatest incidence of chronic illnesses in Victoria. Our access to a diverse patient cohort across a number of diseases, and the fact that most of our patients are research naïve (i.e. not on other research projects) makes us an attractive site for recruitment into clinical trials.  Western Health has repeatedly demonstrated that it is able to successfully recruit into clinical trials compared to other more established health services.

Having demonstrated great success in the conduct of Phase II and III studies, Western Health is now well placed to conduct Phase I clinical trials across a number of clinical disciplines.  With dedicated purpose built clinical trial facilities located on the 4th floor of the Western Centre for Health Research and Education building, GCP trained clinicians and well trained research coordinators, Western Health is well placed to meet the challenges of conducting clinical trials in an expedient and efficient manner.

We have demonstrated high capacity and capability in Oncology, Critical Care, Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and Palliative Care. With the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s hospital to open in 2018, neonatology, paediatrics and womens health will see a further increase in research activity.

Western Health continues to be proud supporter of clinical trials and is committed to growing and improving the delivery of safe, high quality care.
